In the distant future, the government of Awtbflsk legalized crime. The law would come into effect the following month.

The new law states that it was okay to commit a crime, as long as the victim had sufficient warning and time to prepare for the incident. Thus, one could go “I’m going to steal your handbag,” and the victim could prepare herself before the actual mugging took place.

The perpetrator would have to register at a specialized building after the law comes into effect, else the crime would be punished under previous laws. After registration, a notice would be sent to the victim, and the victim is granted freedom from responsibility regarding the outcome of the perpetrator, that is, the victim is given the license to harm or even kill the perpetrator.

The official statement is that the new law would deter people from actually committing such crimes, as their own lives would be at stake as well. However, within the higher echelons in the government, the actual reason was that they were tired of seeing a safe and secure country and that this new law would create some excitement during their rule.

After the announcement, the government was immediately deposed of, and the new law was removed along with the ruling party. The people were thinking stuff like “what the [heck] is wrong with their heads when they passed this law” and “why did I vote for them last election?”
